Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are one of the great sufferings of women. These are lesions (scars) that unfortunately arise from the irreversible breakdown of collagen and elastin fibers responsible for skin elasticity, and are due to several factors, including hormonal issues or weight changes. They appear mostly on the thighs and buttocks, or in the abdomen when they appear because of pregnancy. Initially, the streaks have a reddish appearance and then gaining a shade whiter. Often arise due to growth at puberty, during pregnancy or after a diet.

To prevent stretch marks must bear in mind some tips:
  • Keep skin hydrated enough;
  • Make exercise;
In terms of food:
  • Make a high fiber diet;
  • Choose white meat over red meat;
  • Avoid sugars and sweets;
  • Drink plenty of water;
You should drink at least eight large glasses of water per day (2 liters). The intake of water helps keep the skin hydrated. You should avoid gain too much fat all of a sudden, as well as large fluctuations in weight, the so called yo-yo effect.
