The Spring Diet

With the arrival of Spring, it is time to start dropping the bulky winter clothes and prepare your taste buds to fruits and vegetables that are coming, fresh and full of color. It's time to give color and flavor to the table.

With the warmer days we can start to eat lighter, because the body needs fewer calories to maintain body temperature and digestion slows. We need not restrict any food, but we can add more color in our meals. The freshest the foods are, the greater the amount of vitamins.

The Spring Diet offers, besides increasing the amount of fruits and vegetables at meals, vary as much as possible in their color, because the larger the variety of color, the greater the amount of nutrients.

Push your imagination, decorate and use aromatic herbs in your salads to add flavor to them, avoid sauces and fats.

Do not forget to reduce the consumption of salt because it causes fluid retention and increase water consumption to help hydration on hot days. Green tea is also a healthier choice than any soda. A can of soda has about 140 calories, the equivalent of about nine teaspoons of sugar. Green tea (without sugar, of course) has 0 calories. Take the opportunity to set aside completely fried foods and go back to cooked and grilled foods that tastes so well in this time of year.

Enjoy the longer and milder days and do physical exercise, which combined with a healthy diet based on fruits and vegetables will help you lose weight and keep the body toned.
